The World Health Organisation Disability Assessment Schedule
(WHODAS 2.0)
The WHODAS 2.0 is a self or informant report that can help measure health and disability in six different domains of functioning where someone has difficulty:
Cognition - understanding & communicating (i.e., concentrating, remembering, problem solving, learning)
Mobility - moving and getting around (i.e., standing, getting out of the home, walking long distance)
Self-Care - attending to hygiene, dressing, eating and staying alone
Getting Along - interacting with other people
Life Activities - domestic responsibilities, leisure, work and school
Participation - Joining in community activities, participating in society
The WHODAS 2.0 gives a measure of the impact of any condition or disorder upon functioning. In general, people often seek additional supports because of how difficult typical, everyday life becomes, not necessarily by the condition or disorder itself. Essentially this is what is meant by the term “disability”, a limitation or challenge to performing daily activities and expected life skills.
