What is an ADHD Assessment?

A thorough, evidence-based investigation to determine whether someone is experiencing typical levels of the above signs, or if they fall within 6-10% of the Australian population who meet criteria for Attention Deficit / Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD).

What Ages do you Assess?

We offer assessments for children (5yo+), teenagers and adults. ADHD “develops” over the child/teen years, with more obvious presentations of ADHD being picked up in childhood, however many teens and adults don’t struggle until life gets harder and don’t get diagnosed until then. Often a parent may get diagnosed at the same time as a child (ADHD commonly runs in families).

What does an ADHD Assessment Include?

STEP 1. FREE SCREENING (10-15mins) (online surveys from 3 different people).

Is ADHD likely present? This will help us determine if we should progress further.

STEP 2. CLINICAL INTERVIEW (50mins) (via Telehealth / Zoom only) & QUESTIONNAIRES (30-60min)

To gather further background information, developmental information, history, assess for other conditions and explore further possible ADHD traits, executive functioning difficulties & areas of interference.

STEP 3. REPORT WRITING (approx. 3-6 weeks - more immediate needs can be accommodated)

Includes assessment results, diagnoses, treatment options, school recommendations, psychoeducation about medication & recommended resources for ongoing education and management of ADHD.

STEP 4: FEEDBACK SESSION (50mins) (via Telehealth / Zoom only)

To discuss the report, give further education around treatment recommendations, explanation of resource recommendations and answer any further questions.

A variety of different evidence-based measures will be used to ensure an accurate assessment. These will be recommended for you by your clinician based on the different requirements of the person being assessed. Below is a collection of some of the measures that may be used:

Vanderbilt, ARS, ASRS v1.1, Conners 4, CAARS 2, CBRS, BDEFS, CEFI, Vinelands-3, DIVA-5, WISC-V, WIAT-III
